If you’re here, chances are you already know about the pivotal event that has come to define me in recent years: surviving a catastrophic car accident. But I assure you, that’s just one part of my story. Let me introduce myself. My name is Brianna, but most call me Bri. At 30 years old, it feels surreal to reflect on the journey that has led me to this point.
I come from an extraordinary family, a group brimming with love and laughter. While material wealth was sparse growing up, I never felt lacking because of the abundance of love that surrounded me. Raised in the company of two younger siblings and an older one, alongside an army of cousins who felt more like siblings and soulmates, family has always been my world.
Recently wed to an incredible man from an equally remarkable family, I’ve always felt he was destined to be a part of my story. While I won’t divulge too much now, his presence has been integral to my journey.
My early years were spent in the tranquility of the country living, later transitioning to town life. This upbringing instilled in me a small-town mindset, where neighborly camaraderie and unlocked doors were the norm, reminiscent of simpler times.
Athleticism has been a constant in my life, coupled with an outgoing nature and love for volunteer work, community, and showing the boys I could always do what they could..only better lol I kept my parents on their toes. From breaking bones due to boundless energy to embracing every sport my school offered, my passion truly ignited when I ventured into cheerleading. For 12 years, it became not just a hobby but a passion, leading me from elite-level participation to elite-level coaching, where witnessing young athletes discover their passions became a privilege I cherished.
From a young age, I was certain of my calling to the medical field. The prospect of healing bodies and caring for others resonated deeply with me. Despite initial challenges in securing a place in a program within my province, my determination led me to pursue opportunities country-wide, Eventually, I found myself excelling in a nursing program in Alberta, a journey marked by academic success and personal fulfillment.
Graduating as valedictorian, on the Dean’s list, with academic honor and merit in front of an overflowing front row of family who traveled to watch me light my candle and get my pin ranks among the top 3 moments of my life. It affirmed the power of perseverance and resilience. Because achieving this dream was no easy feat and I will get more into it later. Returning home in 2019, I embarked on a fulfilling career as a nurse at Beausejour Hospital. Though brief, my time there affirmed my passion for nursing and the impact I could make in the lives of others.
However, it was during my journey home from that very job that fate intervened. In a mere four seconds, a stranger’s mistake altered the trajectory of my life.
Each chapter of my life has contributed to shaping who I am today. While the accident may have cast a long shadow, it’s but a chapter in a much larger narrative—one of resilience, determination, and the unwavering belief in the power of hope and that
Everything happens for a reason.
